The craft of mastering music is alternately put on a pedestal as a dark and mysterious art or derided as a crock of shit. As usual, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I go for big, beautiful and dynamic, not overly processed or hyped, and I only fix what I feel needs fixing. A simple concept to be sure, but apparently elusive enough that I have made some people very happy so far, including Dave Matthews Band, The Wallflowers, Butch Walker, Richard Marx, Jewel, Martin Sexton, Elizabeth Cook, Andrew McMahon and Ingrid Michaelson.
